I decided to go out and research areas that had been taken over by nature. I found an abandoned railway platform in the New Forest. I was particularly interested in the Iron work. This made me think about using outdated technology in a modern way within my narrative, as I had mentioned before in my initial research. I also tried to take photographs at strange angles, making the objects a little ambiguous in nature. I plan to perhaps collage the pieces together and later draw from that collage.
I felt it was important to get first hand reference for my paintings as it would not only inspire me, but also make my paintings that much more believable and within context. I believe that by exploring first hand details, any thing I use from them will help the content of my paintings, especially as I work in quiet a direct manner, any visual clues for the viewer will only help!
