John Hegley

http://www.johnhegley.co.uk/

Today we had a talk given by poet John Hegley. It was truly an entertaining experience! I loved how he performed his poems as songs, but what was also really interesting for me was his accompanying illustrations! Though he was introduced as 'not an illustrator', I felt his illustrations matched his poems perfectly!

One of my Pieces for the One Day project given by John Hegley.
After his presentation we were given a one day project by him to complete. We were asked to illustrate a part of his latest poem (which I think at that moment was still a work in progress). The part I chose described standing on a hill with his brother wearing corduroy trousers, looking at the town below.

After a few hours the images were photocopied onto acetate so they could be projected on the wall whilst John read his poem to them, much like with his own images earlier in his presentation. I was pretty happy that mine was chosen, even though it was somewhat of a mess!
